I guess I'm young but I feel so weary

not pictured: Him

This ramshackle joint was kindly linked to by a bunch of more popular blogs recently - the perfect cue to disappear for two weeks! I feel especially bad about disappointing Mr. Beast over at Mindless Ones; there's a film paper that needs to be written sharpish, so I won't be able to return to comics blogging for a few more days despite his generous praise ("as good a bit of blogging about comics as I’ve encountered in 2008"!). A very long post about Peter Milligan is pulling itself together, but in the meantime I thought I should collect all the non-comics music writing I've done lately:

Women -
s/t

Bowerbirds - Hymns for a Dark Horse

Katy Perry - One of the Boys (probably the single worst album I've heard this year)

She & Him @ The Opera House, July 23rd

That She & Him live review is probably the highlight here. Its thesis is hardly radical, given the self-effacing nature of the band's own name, but I think it was executed well. And even if you disagree, it's definitely a good excuse to post pictures of Zooey Deschanel.

Serious, Chris, I was planning on doing something on Infinity Inc./The Programme (short version: v. disappointed) but I think it'd pale in comparison to what you have in the pipeline.

Yrs,

Have any of you seen that Saturday afternoon cartoon series he wrote, Meta4orce? It's online... not very good either (although I bet I'd have sorta dug it if I was 12), but it does revisit some of the plastic surgery motifs from Face for a few seconds... I mean, hey... Face for kids...

Huh...I'd never even heard of that show, Jog, and I love obscure Milligan minutiae - said long post may wind up being entirely devoted to The Eaters...

Does one of the Meta4orce team start mutilating themselves as a grotesque artistic project?

Ha ha, no... it's got a villain that works in cutting away memory implants but poses as a plastic surgeon... questions of the self, as is typical with Milligan...
